Alpinestars
Atlas gloves are designed
as either trick, high-tech off road gloves (our opinion)
or light-duty street gloves - depending on what advertising
gack
you pay attention to. All that aside, Alpinestars Atlas gloves
may
be just the ticket
for enduro riders looking for a textile glove that
offers more protection that the standard neoprene mx glove without
sacrificing comfort, durability, tactility or ventilation. We've logged
a lot of
time in ours over the past few months are are very happy with them. Tech-wise Alpinestars Atlas gloves feature standard offroad mesh panels for ventilation, foam backed GP style Polyurethane knuckle protectos that are beefier than that found in most off road gloves that use PU style protectors, liberal use of foam padding for comfort and protection, wraparound fingertips for durability, leather little finger for abrasion resistance, TPR wrist closures, Lycra thumb insert for flexibility, Clarino palm with rubberized grip reinforcements, Clarino thumb with foam padding and pre-curved fingers. Atlas gloves run true to size and the fit is very good with no break in required. I have very long fingers and the Atlas fit, for me, is just fine. MSRP for the Atlas is around $67 bucks. They are well worth the money. My Atlas gloves have logged hundreds of miles in desert races, have been been water-soaked, bounced off lava rocks, covered with prodigious amounts of dirt, mud, grease, oil, race gas and sweat. In spite of a fair amount of abuse they continue to fit well and generally perform like champs. They look pretty trick as well, and are available in a variety of colors. The Alpinestars Atlas gloves are among my all-time favorites. They cost a lot more than even most very high-end MX gloves but the comfort, fit and protection are worth the premium. |
