Dunlop GeoMax
MX-51 Tires Distance with performance. by Martin Hackworth Photos: Martin Hackworth |

GeoMax MX51 front and rear
tires are intermediate
terrain offerings from Dunlop. Although the MX51's do not
offer
the long wear of our long time favorite MX71's,
their performance in dirt,
mud and sand is so much better (especially as the tires wear) that it
is, in our opinion, worth spooning on tires more often. The first thing you'll notice about a fresh set of MX51's is how sturdy they are for an intermediate terrain tire. We spooned a pair MX51's onto our MoJazz Project CRF450X for the Tour of Idaho T1 and were surprised at both the longevity (we got through the entire 1400 mile Tour on a pair) and at how much more tractable the bike was in the technical sections of sand, mud, snow, rocks and roots. The sidewalls are rigid enough that we run our MX51's (with Bridgestone heavy duty tubes) at around 10 - 12 psi front and rear in all but the rockiest terrain. Right now we'd be hard pressed to think about another tire we'd rather use for the type of riding we do - long, mixed and fast. The handling and durability are tough to beat. These tires have all of the excellent wear characteristics of the MX71's they replaced but with much better handling characteristics. |
With the GeoMax series of tires Dunlop has maintained it's tradition of excellence in motorcycle tires. With the leaps and bounds we've observed during the past decade in motorcycle tires, both on and off road, we can't wait to see what's next. | Dunlop
