We've heard from one group planning on doing sections of both T1 and T2 in 2010. If you are thinking about, or actively planning to attempt either T1 or T2 (or both) next summer please let us know.
Cheers!

Hey folks..since I was clueless..Martin clued me in, again! I want to ride the T2 next season and would like to find anyone that wants to give it a go to ride along....I ride a '07 BMW GS Adventure set up for dirt...I ride almost 100% dirt...but due to the weight of the bike, single tracks are...well... not advised without help to retrieve my bike after it takes a rest stop down a steep slope..
Open for a late spring or ? ride on the T2...
Thanks...Phil Enterprise, Oregon

Hello Phil - as the season draws near I'm sure that you'll be able to find folks to ride T2 with - or, should you decide to ride by yourself, we can provide some support for you. If all else fails we do it ourselves several times a year and you'd be welcome to tag along with us if the timing is right.
Have a great holiday.

I am hoping to ride T1 next summer. I did a ten day, 2,000 mile ride in 07 on my 950; and vowed to come back on a smaller bike to take advantage of the awesome trails. So has there been any work done on re-routing the T1 route around the storm damage from earlier this year?

Hello and welcome to the forum!
The short answer to your question is no. Rerouting was ultimately not necessary because the storm damage from last spring was repaired by trail crews (a bodacious job too). The 2009 thread has an ongoing discussion of this that was capped with the following post:

Joined: 3/2/2008 Posts: 120 Points: 244 Location: Pocatello For those of you who suffered through the last thirty miles of day one on the Tour of Idaho (T1) this year (Inkom to Pocatello via Chinese Peak) - arguably the hardest part of the Tour this past year - you will be either elated or crestfallen to know that the BLM crews spent the past few days buffing the trails back to immaculateness.
The narrow and scenic ridge that leads into Pocatello at the end of day one is one of the really spectacular and exciting parts of the Tour. Unfortunately this year it was incredibly (and a little uncharacteristically) rough going thrown in at the very end of a long day. At least two parties that made it through everything else were stymied by Chinese Peak.
The trail crews did it right too - so barring a deluge of biblical proportions it should be in great shape all of next summer.
See you in 2010.
Every year there is some unpleasantness somewhere along the way but last year was a little out of control. This year, barring another very wet spring, things should be back to normal. We'll keep everyone posted.
Cheers
m

I really like all the detail and information you've provided for your T1 and T2 tours. I am planning on doing a similar tour to T2 this summer. However, we'll be riding from the Idaho/Oregon border by to Island Park, ID. We'll intersect with your T1 route around Challis, the Pahsimoroi(sp) Valley and Arco.

We are still planning the trip out, but our tentative plan is to ride from the Oregon border near Weiser or Riggins to Island Park over the course of four days. We want to make sure to have time to stop and smell the roses and take a lot of pictures and video. We plan to travel on dirt roads as much as possible.
Tentatively we will stay a night at Warm Lake, near Cascade; a night near Bonanza on the Yankee Fork; a night in Arco; and then a couple of days in Island Park, to include a side tour of Yellowstone NP.
From Island Park we will probably drop down to Palisades and follow most of your T2 trail back across Idaho to Jordan Valley, OR; probably breaking that up into four days of riding as well.
The first night we'll either stay in Pocatello or Lava Hot Springs. I'm for Pocatello - seeing the family there and eating a Buddy's salad - but some of the crew wants Lava for the hot pools. The next day we'll probably stay near City of the Rocks; sounds like there is a nice RV park by Almo. Then our final night of camping we'll camp at Bruneau Hot Springs or somewhere along the Owyhee Scenic Byway.

michael (the asshat) Absolutely - make sure to take plenty of pictures and shoot as much video as you can so that we can do a story. I think that T2 would be fantastic for ATV's. Just avoid the pass over Indian Mountain. Everything else ought to be spectacular. Best of luck m

This is what the Tour of Idaho Flagpole (located at 5100') looked like this morning, May 6, at 9 a.m. I'm not too sure about you mid-July folks this year! File Attachment(s):

alrighty then.....things are shaping up well. just took the atv on a gas run to see what it could do. how depressing, only 64 miles on a 4 gallon tank (did not use the reserve)- granted i was on the throttle like a knucklehead, but still. planning on hitting the t2 june 15, 16, 17. gonna do alpin to jordan valley to boise. lets see if boise police mind a short juant through the city, this should keep my wife a little happier, she will not have to come get me in yet another state.
